A Birthday Trip

Yesterday was our first of, I'm sure, several celebrations for Jaden's birthday. We gave Jaden a choice this year to have a birthday party with several friends or to ask one or two friends to go see Toy Story 3 with us and have a fun day out of town. He chose the latter and chose one friend from Snyder to go, plus his cousins -- Carter, Andrew and Mallory. So, we made the trip to Midland for a movie, lunch and some miniature golf.

Now, call me crazy, but I guess I just couldn't deal with the fact that I didn't get to plan a birthday party. I mean for 6 years now I've had lots of fun putting everything into a party for Jaden and this year I didn't get to make any cute invitations or come up with fun games.

So, Friday night I made "Buzz Lightyear's Rocket Juice," "Rootin' Tootin' Cowboy Water," and "Toy Story Thirst Quencher" drinks...
...and Sheriff Woody badge cookies...
...and popped popcorn to put in these cute popcorn tins for the movie...
The kids thought the "rocket juice" was cool and loved the popcorn snack for the movie.
After the movie, which was very exciting by the way, we headed to Jason's Deli for lunch. After we ate, Jaden dove into the cookies!
This is just a sweet picture of Mallory that I had to share. She was in on all the festivities but not in any other pics of mine.
After lunch all the boys, Jason and Eric included, played a round of miniature golf. This pic was taken at the beginning and I'm pretty sure they were hot and tired after about the third hole. But they did finish 18 before heading home.
It was a fun day! So glad we got to spend it with a friend and family!
