Lots of FIRSTS!

We had the annual Big Bash at the Preston's house tonight.  This is a couple in our congregation that once a year has a get-together at their house where we eat fried fish, all the trimmings that go with that and homemade ice cream.

Usually we have it earlier in the year and outside, but tonight it got moved to the barn because it was COLD!  But before it got too cold, we got to play a little.  The minute we stepped out of the van, Ross Preston was driving by on his 4-wheeler hayride and Jaden immediately wanted to jump on.  So, Ross stopped and picked him up.  Jaxon on the other hand, wanted nothing to do with it and just watched Jaden go.
Then when the "hayriders" got back from that "trip" Jaxon decided that if Daddy would go with him, then he might try it. So, they hopped on with Jaden and away they went.  I wish I had a picture from when they got off because it was not pretty.  Jaxon and Jason both thought the ride was a little wild and rough.  Apparently, Ross was a crazy driver.  Jaden on the other hand, LOVED it, and kept going as many times as he could.

Now, this next picture is going to shock most of you who know my children well and know that neither one of them like animals.  Well, they like them, as long as they are pretend or a toy animal, but they usually will not go NEAR a real life animal.

But tonight, Jaden took a ride on his first horse.  That's right -- it's not an illusion.  That is Jaden on a horse.  Again, Jaxon wanted nothing to do with it, but enjoyed watching Jaden go.  Another couple from our congregation, Ted and Dana Cooley, brought two of their horses so that anyone could ride that wanted to.  Jaden really thinks a lot of Ted and so he decided it would be o.k. to ride with him.  Of course, Jaden wouldn't actually touch the horse, but he loved the ride!

As much as Jaxon loves toy horses, he wouldn't even pet this one.  Oh, well, maybe one day.

Then, after supper, they started a fire and we roasted marshmallows and made s'mores.  Um, um, good!  Jaden has always wanted to make s'mores, but we never have, so tonight he and Jaxon got their first taste.  And they liked them!

All in all, it was cold but a very fun evening!
